I had trouble uninstalling Ageia Physx driver (which came with a game) from my notebook, so I tried to use Microsoft Windows Installer CleanUp Utility because I was getting some network error to read from an msi file. But when I try to right click msicuu2 application and run it as administrator I got an error 'ActiveX component can't create object: Scripting.FileSystemObject', with error code 800A01AD, source Microsoft VBscript runtime error.
Please help or suggest where help can be found. I am running Vista Home Premium with latest SP.

I am at a loss and very tired of this always happening, again and again. Thank you so very much Andy Song - and all the others who have been so helpful.
I put the disk in after reading your 'solution' and presto - it's OK - I think!!! This problem has been bugging me for months and now I realise that I had 'removed' that part of the HP programmes because I thought I didn't really need it. This problem had caused my computer to crash several times. I'm certainly no teckie but all the more reason for HP to be a little more precise with it's messages. Why couldn't it just include its HP sign to let us know what we are looking?
Hp Printer Removal Utility
Msi was a 'red herring' as I kept trying to find the '#Solutions Center' (wish that was spelt 'centre') within Microsoft. Thank you again for you valuable help, E. Split the atom yoyo trick. I have this problem as well.
Since most of the solutions mentioned here are no longer available now such as Windows Clean up utility is no longer offered, and the HP site: is gone too, the site mentioned a few conversations above = now gone to 404 , I'm looking for a current one. I'll repeat the problem: 'The feature you are trying to use is on CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available Insert the 'SolutionCenter' disk and click OK' then it says: 'Use Source: 1' Finally it says: 'An installation package for the produce 'SolutionCenter' could not be found. Try the installation again using a valid copy of the installation packaged 'SolutionCenter.msi.' Does anyone know of a current site or download that will make this go away? If so, please include all the steps and accurate names as abbreviations get really confusing. Hi Kitchenqod54, You are right.
HP seems to have relocated it to a different place. I have a printer All In One Office Jet 6480 for which I found the drivers and updates for various applications at the following location: If you click on the appropriate BreadCrumps link and select your printer model and the applicable operating system, you could find similar updates that is specific to your product and OS. You should also download the 'HP Officejet Software and Driver Removal Utility' that is available under 'Utilities' in the same page and run it before reinstalling the new version just to make sure you do not have any older version files. My problem occured on 2 separate laptops running Windows XP after permiting both to proceed with Adobe Flash update yesterday.
Each time I now start either laptop I get the Windows Installer popup then 'Solution Center' runs 'Preparing to Install' then I get the message 'The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available - Insert 'Solution Center' disk and click OK.' When I inserted my HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 disc and browsed for the file solutioncenter.msi.
I found it in the Setup/SolutionCenter folder and allowed the routine to run using D: setup solutioncenter SolutionCenter.msi by clicking OK. When complete a message box came up indicating ' Module C: WINDOWS system32 Macromed Flash9f.ocx failed to register. Contact your support professional. Obviously Abobe Flash Player 10.1 is where I suspect the issue lies and it conflicts with HP Solution Center functionality. Hi everybody. Unfortunately when I tried to download it, it said I 'didn't need these files on for my system' or something like that. I ended up Power Deleting ALL HP related files on my hard drive, including Registry files, through the Revo Power Uninstaller (15 Day Free Trial) and after uninstalling ALL HP files, I went to the HP site and re-installed all the HP drivers, utilities, and updates for my printer. I don't get that pesky 'The feature you are trying to use is on CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available Insert the 'SolutionCenter' disk and click OK' etc. Message any more, thankfully!
I piece mealed this solution together after reading this entire thread. This solution worked!!
Running Windows 8.1 home 64bit. I've previously been able to install the software for my networked HP CM1312nfi printer and scanner and use the scanning software, but want to add OCR. I installed ReadIris Pro for OCR (which came with the printer), but got the message there was no Twain driver, so I uninstalled the HP software to see if reinstalling might add the Twain. Now I can't reinstall it. I've been able to get the scanner to work using HPScan and Capture (a separate Windows app), and have installed the printer using Windows Add a Printer.
But when trying to install the HP software, which hopefully includes the Twain driver, the installer starts, asks if I want to install a USB or network printer, and then just shuts down when I select 'network'. There are no error messages, it just disappears. On checking Task Manager it is still running as a background process. I've tried re-downloading the software, taking care to select Windows 8.1 for 64 bit, and restarted many times. Tried installing in Safe mode - same issue. I've tried running the cleanup utility (scrubber.exe) that comes with the software but this also doesn't seem to work, and doesn't even appear in Taskmanager.
I've run sfc /scannow which has fixed some files, but left some files unfixed. Not sure if this is related or not, though everything else seems to be running ok. Any suggestions or help much appreciated in getting the installer to run. Failing that, how to install a Twain driver? I'd like to avoid reinstalling windows as I don't want to lose an entire weekend! I wouldn't say I'm that PC savvy so instructions in plain English please.;-). As said, i suspect hardware problems - test ram and disk to be sure about the basics i use the uBCD for this Hardware diagnostic CD UBCD go to the download page, scroll down to the mirror section, and click on a mirror to start the download Download the UBCD and make the cd.
Davis Well done, your tip worked, in combination with running the software from the Administrator Account. I only discovered this because I thought I'd try running the installer from the old CD. It ran but kept stopping and asking me to run with Admin rights, the new installer didn't run on my normal account, even though it's set with Admin rights. Setting the files to 'Run as Admin' didn't work so I set up my Admin Account - Then I tried the new software and it ran. Not sure if it was down to this or removing those files (the ones I found in the Windows folder had similar but not the same names (hppins11.dat and hppins11.dat.temp and hppmdl11.dat.temp) Either way problem solved, and Readiris works with my scanner now.
Not doing these before attempting to remove the driver files may result in an 'access denied' or 'printer in use' error. To completely remove printer driver files from your system:. Open the Print Server Properties dialog window by doing one of the following:. Click the Start menu and in the search field type ' printui /s /t2' (without the quotes), and then press Enter or click it in the search list. Press WINDOWS-R on the keyboard to bring up the Run window, type in ' printui /s /t2' (without the quotes), and then press Enter or click OK. Press the WINDOWS key on the keyboard to display the Start screen, type in ' printui /s /t2' (without the quotes), and then click it in the search list. From the Start menu or the Start screen:.

Open Devices and Printers. Select any printer and then click 'Print server properties' at the top of the window. Click on the Drivers tab. For Windows XP systems:.
Hp Cleanup Utility Windows 10
Click Start Control Panel Printers and Faxes. Click the File menu and choose 'Server Properties.' . Click on the Drivers tab. Select the printer driver you wish to uninstall. Click the Remove button. Select 'Remove driver and driver package' and click OK.
Note: Removing the driver package will clear all driver installation files for that device, leaving no reference to the printer that Windows could possibly use to auto-reinstall again. Windows XP does not have this extra choice.
If you get a message about access denied or the printer being in use and you cannot find the driver or any installed program that would account for this, you may restart the computer in a diagnostic startup and then use the printui command to remove the driver package(s) (see ). You must restart back to normal mode before you will be able to install the printer again.
